Genital wart is a condition that affects both men and women. It is a mild condition, but there are several complications that can accompany the condition which might cause severe issues in the future. Genital warts can be treated and cured, but unless the infection that is the cause of the condition is not cured, it might have the chance to occur again. It is a condition that is caused by a virus and is categorised under sexually transmitted infection. The virus that causes the disease is called human papilloma virus (HPV). It leads to the development of growth in the skin that can cause itching, pain, and discomfort. The condition can cause serious complications in women as it might lead to vulva and cervix cancer.
Genital wart is a condition that is transmitted through sexual activities and in some cases, it might take a few weeks for the symptoms to show up. The warts are usually not visible to the naked eye, and this might lead to people not being diagnosed with the condition. It is small and mostly darker than the skin colour of similar to the skin colour. The person infected with by genital warts might have a single or a cluster of warts. It depends on the person who is affected by it.
Genital warts can occur to people on the lips, tongue, or mouth if they have indulged in oral sexual activities with a person infected by the virus. Some of the symptoms related to genital warts are bleeding from the genitals, itching and burning sensation in the genitals, and discharge of fluid from the penis or vagina.
It is seen that the symptoms can occur even when the genital warts are not seen to the human eye. It can become extremely uncomfortable and painful if warts spread through.
Depending on the gender, genital warts appear in different areas of the body. In men, it appears on the penis, scrotum, thighs, groin, inside and outside of the anus. In women, genital warts can appear on the cervix, inside or outside of the vagina or the anus. Genita warts can be prevented in a number of ways.
Use of vaccination
Genital warts can, in some cases, prevented by the use of vaccinations. Gardasil is a vaccine that can be used by both men and women to prevent the infection of the common types of HPV. It can also stop the infection HPV that is linked to causing cervix cancer. There are vaccines for HPV which can be given in three rounds to men and women who are under twenty-six which can help prevent it to an extent. The vaccine has to be taken before a person becomes active sexually. This is due to the fact that they should not be already affected by HPV.
Use of condom
Use of a condom while engaging in sexual activity is seen to be one of the most effective ways to reduce HPV infection.
People who smoke have high chance of getting warts compared to people who don’t smoke. So, you should stop smoking. Even if you had the disease once, smoking increases the chance of getting it back again.
